by Maricarmen Blackwell

After conquering the U.S. market, Enrique finally returns with a Spanish language album, after five years of performing and recording primarily in English. It’s obvious that he hasn’t changed his nostalgic and romantic style much; the tracks "Pa' que la vida" and "La chica de ayer" are a little corny for his age.

"Mentiroso," is the first single and has become #1 in several Latin American countries (the Mariachi version, however, leaves a lot to be desired). The guitars give a touch of the Madrilenian flavor, excellent on “Mentiroso”, "Pienso en ti" and "Quizás," where Enrique speaks to his father about the real life and moving issue of their strained relationship. It’s great that they added "No apagues la luz" as a bonus because it’s the only “poppy” song on the album.
